Senior Technical VFX Artist

Remote (UK and EU time zone)

We are looking for a Senior Technical VFX artist with a passion for dissecting and recreating stunning visual effects across different game engines.

We are seeking someone who possesses the technical expertise to reverse engineer particle systems, emitters, and other VFX components.  

We need an individual who is excited by the opportunity to develop cutting-edge tools for porting VFX, push the boundaries of visual effects technology, and work independently to achieve ambitious goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain VFX porting tools to automate the migration of VFX assets from various game engines to Unreal Engine 5.
  • Analyze and reverse engineer VFX systems in different game engines to understand their technical implementation.
  • Collaborate with the development team to integrate the porting tools into the existing pipeline.
  • Research and implement efficient methods for VFX asset conversion and optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues related to VFX porting and rendering.
  • Document the functionality and usage of the developed tools.

Prerequisites:

  • Extensive experience with particle systems, emitters, and other core VFX components in multiple game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
  • Deep understanding of VFX rendering pipelines and optimization techniques.
  • Proven ability to analyze and reverse engineer complex technical systems.
  • Experience developing tools or scripts to automate tasks related to VFX creation or manipulation.
  • Familiarity with different VFX authoring tools and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of tasks.
  • A strong problem-solving mindset and a passion for tackling technical challenges.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine's Niagara VFX system.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization of VFX.
  • Contributions to open-source VFX tools or projects.
  • A passion for pushing the boundaries of real-time visual effects.
